Drumcliff High Cross, Co. Sligo

Location : Approx. 3 miles N of Sligo town on the N 15 Ballyshannon / Sligo road, beside Yeat's graveyard. Signposted.
Features : A pierced ring sandstone high cross stands at the roadside with extensive panelling and carvings. Here I have, top left photo, the west face with shaft panels, supposedly the arrest of Christ; Mary & Joseph and an interlaced panel. The top right photo depicts the east and north faces with the wheel centred crucifixion and curious 'dog motifs' under the cross arms on the wheel. The bottom left photo shows the south west corner of the cross and the bottom right photo is of the east face with a triumphant Christ ; Adam & Eve ;Cain & Abel ; and Daniel in the lion's den.
