Jerpoint Abbey Carvings Pt. 2 , Co. Kilkenny

Found in Kilkenny town itself. First left turn over bridge over the
river Nore. Signposted.
Features :
This is a Cistercian abbey with fine granite carvings throughout
its grounds. Here On this page I have a sculptured wall panel of abbots
and bishops (top photo) , panelling for a stone sarcophagus (second photo)
and 2 wall panels (bottom) depicting knights, one holding a spear.
Date :
Abbey is 1158 A.D. Stone sarcophagi and wall panels 13th. - 15th.
century.
