Field High Cross, Kilfenora Cathedral

Location : 100 yards W of Kilfenora cathedral, 4 miles S of Lisdoonvarna (R476 road) ; 5 miles N of Ennistimon (R 481 road), within the town itself in Clare county.
Signposted.
Features : Cross is of the pierced ring variety with the West face (below, left) showing geometrical designs and the Chi - Rho monogram within the centre of the sun wheel. Interlacings occur down the shaft. The East face (above) shows crucifixion and shaft designs.The cross (below, right), with an unpierced ring, is of unknown origin with interlacings of animal motifs on its shafts.
Date : Possibly early 14th century.
