Skellig Michael Crosses, Kerry Coast
Location :
8 Miles off the Kerry coastline from the harbour of Ballinaskelligs.
Only access is by boat ride from Ballinaskelligs pier. (see my
irreverant article in photomain for more on the islands).
Features :
A monastery on top of the island was founded by St. Finian whose
mainland church can still be visited about 300 yards up the only
road from Ballinaskelligs pier.
Here I just show the main crosses on the island. They are simply
inscribed with some anthropomorphic features to their life size
shapes.The second cross shown has double arms.
